Time to start contacting your Senators right away

Obama Picks Anti-gun Judge for the Supreme Court

ACTION: Please contact your two Senators and urge them to oppose the nomination of Judge Sonia Sotomayor to the U.S. Supreme Court. You can use the Legislative Action Center to send your Senators a pre-written e-mail message.

Friday, May 29, 2009 Gun Owners Of America - Larry Pratt

Unless you've taken a very long Memorial Day vacation, you've no doubt heard the big news.

President Obama has picked an anti-gun radical to replace Justice David Souter on the Supreme Court.

Obama's pick is Judge Sonia Sotomayor, who is currently on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second District. There she has racked up an anti-Second Amendment record and has displayed contempt for the rule of law under the Constitution.

The Heller decision put the Supreme Court in support of the Constitutional protection of the individual right to keep and bear arms. Sotomayor, a politically correct lover of centralized government power (as long as she is part of the power elite), immediately went into counter-attack mode against the Heller decision.

Sotomayor was part of a three-judge panel earlier this year which ruled in Maloney v. Cuomo that the Second Amendment does not apply to the states. As she and her cohorts claimed, the Supreme Court has not yet incorporated the states under the Second Amendment. Until then, she believes, the Second only applies to the District of Columbia.

This is pure judicial arrogance -- something Sotomayor relishes (as long as she is one of the ruling judges). In fact, protection of the right to keep and bear arms was a major objective for enactment of the Fourteenth Amendment, as recently freed slaves were being disarmed and terrorized in their neighborhoods.

But Sotomayor disdains this important right of individuals, as indicated by an earlier opinion from 2004. In United States v. Sanchez-Villar, she stated that "the right to possess a gun is clearly not a fundamental right."

Sotomayor has held very anti-gun views, even as far back as the 1970s. Fox Cable News reported yesterday that in her senior thesis at Princeton University, she wrote that America has a "deadly obsession" with guns and that the Second Amendment does not guarantee an individual right to firearms ownership.

Sotomayor's Second Amendment views go hand in hand with her politically correct views on the law and the role of judges.

In a speech given at Duke University in 2005, she made it abundantly clear that judges are involved in making policy. Realizing that this did not sound very judicial (even though most judges act on this basis), Sotomayor tried to laugh off her brazen admission: "I know this is on tape and I should never say that, [audience laughing], because we don't make law -- I know. Um, okay. I know, I'm not promoting it, I'm not advocating it." The audience continued to laugh. They got the joke.

But Sotomayor's joke will be on us and our liberties if she gets confirmed to the Supreme Court. And that is why we need to start contacting our Senators early and often, urging them to vote against this dangerous nomination.

Gun Owners Are On The Verge Of A Huge, Legislative Victory

Tuesday, May 19, 2009

Get ready to pinch yourself.

After eight years of clashing with anti-gun bureaucrats and congressional leadership hostile to gun rights, we have never been closer to victory in the battle to repeal the National Park Service (NPS) gun ban.

As you are by now undoubtedly aware, NPS land is subject to a blanket gun ban. A Bush administration regulation partially reversing the ban was singlehandedly negated recently by an activist judge in Washington, D.C.

Gun Owners of America reported last week about an amendment to repeal the gun ban, sponsored by Senator Tom Coburn (R-OK), that passed by an overwhelming 67-29 vote. Senator Coburn attached his amendment to a fast-moving "must pass bill," H.R. 627, dealing with credit card industry reform.

The Coburn amendment simply allows for state law -- not unelected bureaucrats and activist judges -- to govern the carrying of firearms on NPS land.

"Visitors to national parks also should have the right to defend themselves in accordance with the laws of their states," Sen. Coburn said.

The Senate wrapped up business on the underlying bill today, while the House passed its version of the bill several weeks ago. The measure now heads back to the House to be "reconciled" with the Senate bill.

The problem for anti-gun House leaders is that their priority bill, H.R. 627, now contains a pro-gun amendment. Speaker Nancy Pelosi is forced to either delay the entire bill in order to try to strip the popular pro-gun amendment out later in the year, or allow the underlying bill to move through the House before Memorial Day with the Coburn amendment intact.

Sources close to the situation tell GOA that the Democrat leadership, which has opposed the NPS gun ban repeal at every turn, may have finally run out of options. The enormous outpouring of grassroots activism from GOA supporters may have at last convinced congressional leaders that if they bury this measure yet again, the repercussions will reverberate into the next election.

President Obama wants to sign this credit card legislation before Memorial Day. So it is possible that there will be just one more vote on this issue in the House this week. As of today, it appears the leadership plans to bring the underlying bill to the floor in two pieces for two separate votes -- one on the main bill and one on the Coburn amendment.

If both pieces pass the House, then they can be combined together as one bill and sent directly to the President without going to a House-Senate conference committee. (There would be no need to iron out differences in conference committee since the Senate would have already passed the exact same version of the bill.)

Bottom line: we just need to make certain that the gun ban repeal amendment passes in the House, after which it will be joined back up with the main bill and signed into law. That's why the action item below -- asking you to urge your Representative to vote for repealing the NPS gun ban -- is so crucial.

This could be the last strike in a long battle, but even on the cusp of winning GOA has also learned that some -- supposedly on the pro-gun side -- are willing to compromise away this victory. Please be absolutely sure to take the action below, and then forward this email to your pro-gun friends.

And remember, the progress we have made on this issue would not be possible without your support. GOA has been the lone voice fighting for this gun ban repeal on Capitol Hill.

Action: Please use the Take Action feature to contact your Representative and urge that the Coburn amendment remain attached to H.R. 627. The vote is scheduled to occur this week!

----- Pre-written letter -----

Dear Representative,

Last week, an amendment to repeal the National Park Service (NPS) gun ban passed overwhelmingly in the Senate by a vote of 67-29 as part of the credit card reform bill.

NPS land is subject to a blanket gun ban. Although a Bush administration regulation partially reversed the ban, that reversal was singlehandedly negated by an activist judge in Washington, D.C.

The pro-gun amendment, sponsored by Sen. Tom Coburn, prevents unelected bureaucrats and activist judges from stripping me of my Second Amendment rights on NPS land.

It appears that the leadership plans to bring the underlying bill to the floor in two pieces for two separate votes -- one on the main bill and one on the Coburn amendment.

I urge you to stand up for my Second Amendment rights and to support the effort to keep the Coburn amendment attached to the underlying bill, H.R. 627.

Gun Owners of America will score this vote in its congressional rating, and will inform me of how you vote.

Boys are Born Warriors.

Boys are born warriors. How do I know this you ask? First of all I am one. Second I was created in Gods image and David wrote in Psalm 144:1 "Blessed be the Lord my strength, which teacheth my hands to war and my fingers to fight."
There are many scriptures where God sends his people to War. If you are not for God, then you are against him, you are his enemy. So if you don't repent, he will destroy you. But be thankful he is patient with us and give us many chances to repent, but take heed, do push him too far. God called Isreal many times to destroy their enemies.
Do a search on the word War in the bible.

Num 31:1-1231:1

And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
2 Avenge the children of Israel of the Midianites: afterward shalt thou be gathered unto thy people.
3 And Moses spake unto the people, saying, Arm some of yourselves unto the war, and let them go against the Midianites, and avenge the LORD of Midian.
4 Of every tribe a thousand, throughout all the tribes of Israel, shall ye send to the war.
5 So there were delivered out of the thousands of Israel, a thousand of every tribe, twelve thousand armed for war.
6 And Moses sent them to the war, a thousand of every tribe, them and Phinehas the son of Eleazar the priest, to the war, with the holy instruments, and the trumpets to blow in his hand.
7 And they warred against the Midianites, as the LORD commanded Moses; and they slew all the males.
8 And they slew the kings of Midian, beside the rest of them that were slain; namely, Evi, and Rekem, and Zur, and Hur, and Reba, five kings of Midian: Balaam also the son of Beor they slew with the sword.
9 And the children of Israel took all the women of Midian captives, and their little ones, and took the spoil of all their cattle, and all their flocks, and all their goods.
10 And they burnt all their cities wherein they dwelt, and all their goodly castles, with fire.
11 And they took all the spoil, and all the prey, both of men and of beasts.
12 And they brought the captives, and the prey, and the spoil, unto Moses, and Eleazar the priest, and unto the congregation of the children of Israel, unto the camp at the plains of Moab, which are by Jordan near Jericho.KJV

And finally, you can say to your self, "I am not going buy my boys toy guns." But they will pick up a stick and use it as a rifle, or at the breakfast table they will chew their toast in to a pistol and shoot you or their siblings. They are following their God given instincts they were born with.
If a boy and girl are walking down a path and they see a bird sitting on a limb, the girl will say, "Look at the pretty bird." The boy will pick up a rock or stick and throw it at the bird.
Now if a boy is constantly pressured to be a "good boy" and not play the part of a warrior, scolded by his mother or his effeminate father, every time he say "Bang bang!" He will be come effeminate also.
But if he has a man for a father, the father will encourage him to be a warrior, to protect the innocent and the fatherless, to be compassionate also.
There is a story about a family, I believe they lived in Eastern Oregon, and they were raising several sons. One day the father and the boys were playing catch with a baseball in the front yard, practicing. The mother came to the front door and scolded them saying, "If you don't quit playing on the lawn we won't have any grass left!"
The father turned and said firmly, "We are not raising grass! We are raising boys!" The mother went back inside. Dad stood firm and kept the leadership of his family. One of the boys grew up to be a professional baseball player.
Who ever the son spends most of his time with, is the person he will become like. If dad goes to work all day and leaves his son at home with the mother, the boy will most likely become effeminate. A woman can not teach a boy to be a man because she is not a man. That is like an eagle trying to teach a frog to fly.
After the boy reaches a certain age he should be by his fathers side all day helping him, watching his father interact in his fathers world.

There are may people in England, France, and the Philippians who are thankful that boys of my fathers generation grew up to be men.

Thanks Dad.

Go watch the movie "Schindler's List" and see what happens to an effeminate people/country.

Watch the movie "Siege at Fire Base Gloria."

A strong man will not let any one take his guns.

Take care and God bless, and

Keep your Powder Dry.
